THRIFTY THURSDAY

i finally, finally scored a beautiful vintage globe from thrifty hippy {yes, the thrift store i just mentioned}. i also got another pretty pretty platter for a whopping $2. you better believe that thing has already been painted chalkboard. and i also found a really nice, big frame on clearance at an art store that i’ve spent my day crafting into something really cool. i’ll share details with you soon!

the week is almost over. tomorrow is friday. and monday is the first day of august? what? where did this summer go? i’ve certainly enjoyed myself though. how about you all? are you as shocked as i am that summer has zipped by?

if you’re lucky enough to find a vintage globe you adore, you’re lucky enough

SEVEN THINGS: vintage suitcases

i cannot stop looking at my two new suitcases with hearts in my eyes. they are just too darling for words. but they are not too darling for ideas, inspiration, and PROJECTS! here are the SEVEN projects i’m considering crafting with my two gorgeous new friends…

1. hello gorgeous. the whole entire thing. the suitcase nightstand is just the icing on top of this beautiful space.

2. i would be able to sit at my desk all day if i had this workspace. a giant trunk serving as an office space? sign me up! yes i know that my two suitcases are too small for this…(sigh).

3. i’m not usually one to want to paint over anything vintage or antique, but who can deny how gorgeous this looks? the monochromatic look is absolutely stunning.

4. happy bum happy home right? goodness gracious i NEED to have a chair like this in my home.

5. when i get my pug puppy, believe me this will be her home. it doesn’t get much cuter does it?

6. what could ever look better as a coffee table or at the foot of your bed? absolutely nothing, that’s what.

7. can you even imagine? picture yourself as a house guest in one of your lovely friends’ homes. and then picture you go to take a shower after traveling ALL day, and this is what you come across. hello. please and thank you. i’d never leave.

oh my. i’m getting a little bit nervous that i may have an obsession. you all have the right to let me know if my bedroom, apartment, or future home start to look a little too much like a luggage store.

if you’re lucky enough to be inspired to create, you’re lucky enough

SUMMER COTTAGE ANTIQUES

earlier today i was oh so excited to go to an awesome record store i heard about in downtown petaluma, ca. unfortunately fortunately, the record store was closed and so i decided to peruse the area a bit. and what did i stumble across? only one of the cutest vintage/ antique stores i’ve seen in awhile.

the store, summer cottage antiques, is two stories and full oh so many exciting treasures. they have gorgeous desks, cabinets, and home decor. oodles of vintage buttons. and an entire box filled with vintage scrabble pieces. and best of all, a pretty selection of vintage suitcases. i scored these two beauties:

while the very friendly staff and i were pulling these suitcases from the window (yes, i took the two in the window display!) we took a look inside and found medicine and toothpaste from 1962! it was so cool. i now actually know the name of the previous owner and the era this gorgeous thing is from.

ah! i’m so smitten. i’m undecided what exactly i’ll be doing with these bad boys because i have a few different dream projects involving suitcases. but once i’ve decided i’ll be sure to share. isn’t it so fun when you stumble across something wonderful on accident?

if you’re lucky enough to shop at summer cottage antiques, you’re lucky enough

footnote: the store also has a blog! check it out.
