A FRIDAY THOUGHT: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BAD WEATHER

The weather in Chicago is currently insane. Less than a week ago it was beautiful out, at least 60 degrees and sunny. Yet this week it has been dark, grey and raining non-stop. The city is flooding, streets are caving in, and buses are filling with water. I have fallen in love with Chicago in a serious way, but lately I’ve been craving a change in weather for the better. Or at least that’s what I was letting myself think.

Yesterday morning I went to yoga with my favorite teacher, Allison. She started us off by saying how lucky we were for having such stormy weather. Huh? It was only 6:30am so I assumed I misheard her. But she continued. She explained how energetic lightening and thunder is and how we should use this natural spark to buzz the rest of our body, to exhilarate the rest of our day. First of all, how amazing is Allison? Second of all, what a great reminder that the opportunity to enjoy the weather is completely up to our unique perspective.

I mean just look at these photographs I’ve taken of Chicago over the past 9 months. Isn’t each one of them beautiful in their own way?

So wherever you are and whatever it looks like outside of your window this morning, I hope you are enjoying it.

if you’re lucky enough to experience different types of good weather, you’re lucky enough

SMALL DETAILS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE

i’m a bit of a nail polish enthusiast. i have a fairly nice collection of pretty little bottles of polish and i am constantly painting my nails. nothing looks more unprofessional {in my humble opinion} than chipped, dirty nails. hands are such an important part of our body and an important communication tool. and hello, how fabulous do neatly manicured nails look?

i try very hard to repaint my nails at least once a week in order to keep away ghastly, chipped nails. i can’t afford manicures very often at all, but by doing what i can myself, i think i am able to keep these fingers looking nice.

and look at how fun these colors are for summer! and depending on your profession, i’d say nearly all of them are appropriate for work as well. {you know your office, coworkers, and work expectations better than i do though}.

what do you think? are you an avid nail painter like me? or does nail polish not really make a difference to you?

a jumble of thoughts

isn’t my mom the sweetest? she gave me this mug for christmas. i brought it all the way across the sea to ireland with me and now it’s sitting on my desk as a lovely reminder of how supportive she is.

i’m sorry ze blog has been so quiet these past couple of days. i’ve been busy with final essays, blaahh, and trying to figure out my summer plans. i have news to share shortly but i want to wait until everything is absolutely final before jinxing myself. but here is a random mix of my thoughts for your enjoyment….

monday night a group of us went on an epic pub crawl. 11 pubs (kind of) on april 11th because we are in ireland during spring 2011. so fun. i’ll post photos as soon as possible.

and last night we’re had ourselves a little taco tuesday action. followed with homemade sex on the beach drinks. i’ll share photos and our personal recipe soon too.

and can you believe i’m flying to venice, italy in 6 days? it’s so crazy to think about how fast time is racing on by. lauren and i booked our easter weekend in rome two months ago. and now it’s nearly here. oiy vey.

i hope you are all enjoying your first few weeks of actual spring. 2011 is already a third of the way gone and i can barely believe it. this year has been so good to me and i hope good to you as well.

i promise to return tomorrow with fun photos and a little bit more to share.

if you’re lucky enough to have a mind so full it pours out in jumbles, you’re lucky enough
