HOW SWEET IT IS

{me, brittanie, johanna, kelly & jessica at our last dinner together in san diego}

it’s easy to be best friends with people you grew up with. you know the ins and outs of who you each are. you know the history, you know the family, and you know the details of your oldest best friends’ lives.

but the thing is, sometimes you meet friends who just fit into your life. it doesn’t matter that they don’t know the first boy you kissed and it doesn’t matter that they don’t know your high school english teacher. it doesn’t matter because sometimes friendship isn’t about how long you have known someone. sometimes friendship is just about how much you enjoy being with someone. sometimes friendship is about learning about someone’s first kiss and high school english teacher and wanting to learn more.

and see those ladies pictured above? it’s been exactly one month since we GRADUATED together and i already miss them all something fierce. i’ve only known these sassy gals for a few years. and yet i love them just the same. how sweet it is to have friends like these.

if you’re lucky enough to make good friends in college, you’re lucky enough

ON MY MIND THIS MONDAY…

- wearing phony reading glasses really does make me feel smarter which inevitably helps me study.

-speaking of study, i’m currently studying for my last final exam EVER. or at least my last final exam of my undergraduate college career!

-and how awesome is it that my last final is for my children’s literature class? life is just too great sometimes.

-and for my final paper, i’m writing about harry potter and the sorcerer’s stone. i know.

-and once all this final, schminal stuff is over i’ll be graduating! this weekend. with my good friends and my parents visiting for the weekend to celebrate.

-and a couple weeks after that, one of my best friends didi and i are throwing a little graduation party together.

-it is nice to sit back and remember how gosh darn lovely life can be. especially when you could just as easily take the time to list everything that’s not lovely. but hey, let’s stick to the good stuff for today. mondays are tough enough as it is.

if you’re lucky enough to remember some happy things on a monday, you’re lucky enough

SOMETHIN’ SPECIAL ABOUT BEING HOME

i just spent the past weekend at home. i got to spend time with the lovely gardener pictured above {hi mom!} and hang out in my parent’s prized backyard. but now, i’m doing some heavy thinking. i’m three weeks away from graduation. i’m lucky enough to have a couple different options in terms of what to do. it’s so great to get to go back home. but it almost feels like a step backwards to return home, to northern california, once i graduate.

decisions, decisions. and not a clue what to do…

but life could be worse. in fact it could be a whole lot worse. so it’s worth considering, pondering, and thinking. but worth getting myself caught up in one of my notorious stress-ball worry fits — i think not.

if you’re lucky enough to have more than one place to go, you’re lucky enough

IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT

this photo is from four years ago. from my high school graduation with one of my best friends didi. today i registered for my very last semester in college. i’ve been in school since i was 5 years old. i’ve been in school since before justin bieber was alive. i’ve been in school since oj simpson was found innocent. i’ve been in school for 78% of my life. and this may be the end of it all.

i could get a little sappy, but in all honesty right now i feel like doing cartwheels. these past 6 months have been a royal pain in me arse. may cannot come soon enough.

how about you all? is 2012 going to be a big year of change for you as well?

if you’re lucky enough to have the chance to get an education, you’re lucky enough
