UNTIL NEXT TIME SAN DIEGO…

i’m leaving san diego today. i’m driving up north to drop my car off with my parents and staying with them until tuesday. and what happens tuesday you ask? why tuesday is the day i fly to CHICAGO. holy happenings!

san diego you rocked my world for 4 glorious years. i love you as much as i love cake batter ice cream – and that’s a whole lot. i will miss you. but you will always feel like one of my homes. in the wise words of ron burgandy, “you stay classy san diego.”

if you are lucky enough to have lived in san diego, you are lucky enough

PACKING GETS ME A THINKIN’…

I hate packing. I mostly hate it because I’m often reminded of how much stuff I have. And I’m reminded that so much of the stuff that I do have, I do not need. And then I feel bad about myself.

And then I think “Lizzie, here is what you are going to do. You are going to donate all of your stuff. You are going to live off of only what you need. You’ll only have to pack maybe 5 boxes, because everything else is going to Goodwill.”

And then I look at my picture frames filled with beautiful memories. And my sea of shoes that make my heart happy. And my unnecessary amount of earrings that truly put a spring in my step. And I realize that I attach so many personal feelings to so many innate objects. Everything I own becomes something I adore. And that stuff that doesn’t, well of course I’ll donate.

It’s not about having what you want, it’s about wanting what you’ve got. And I sure as shooting love what I got. Of course I don’t need every single pair of shoes I own and I absolutely don’t need all of the clothes in my closet. But gosh they make me happy. So hop on board boxes, you’re all coming with me to Chicago.

if you’re lucky enough to love the things you have, you’re lucky enough

IT’S GETTING SENTIMENTAL AROUND THESE PARTS

we are graduating from san diego state university this weekend. we are officially done! and it’s crazy. it feels like just yesterday — well no not just yesterday.. maybe just three months ago — i was starting my freshman year. fast forward four great years zip, zip, zam! and here i am today. done with school.

this week the six of us went out to a really lovely dinner at bice in downtown san diego. there we passed around sweet little gifts. i made everyone a handmade card and a lil quote art. {really similar to the one i made here, except this time i used pretty fabrics}

we’ve got exciting futures ahead of us and i cannot wait to see what every one of these gals does with their beautiful lives. but, still it’s sad to know we may not all be together, in the same place, at the same time again. i love you friends. and CONGRATULATIONS!

if you’re lucky enough to have made great friends in college, you’re lucky enough

ON MY MIND THIS MONDAY…

- wearing phony reading glasses really does make me feel smarter which inevitably helps me study.

-speaking of study, i’m currently studying for my last final exam EVER. or at least my last final exam of my undergraduate college career!

-and how awesome is it that my last final is for my children’s literature class? life is just too great sometimes.

-and for my final paper, i’m writing about harry potter and the sorcerer’s stone. i know.

-and once all this final, schminal stuff is over i’ll be graduating! this weekend. with my good friends and my parents visiting for the weekend to celebrate.

-and a couple weeks after that, one of my best friends didi and i are throwing a little graduation party together.

-it is nice to sit back and remember how gosh darn lovely life can be. especially when you could just as easily take the time to list everything that’s not lovely. but hey, let’s stick to the good stuff for today. mondays are tough enough as it is.

if you’re lucky enough to remember some happy things on a monday, you’re lucky enough
